What must I do for career assessment?
It takes you one hour to take the assessment. About 60-90 minutes of preparation.

A consultation session of 90 – 120 min – A comprehensive feedback report is supplied.
Cost you R 749 for your future. You receive a comprehensive report.

Counsellor
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation. You will be able to see which counsellors are registered/accredited with their professional body as they will display the above logo.

What is counselling / psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy is a broad term used to describe talking therapies, including counselling. Both counsellors and psychotherapists provide a service for those looking for support and treatment for a wide range of mental health and emotional issues.

I’ve never done this before in my life? Is this normal?
Most people feel nervous about seeking counselling.  This is entirely understandable when you’re not sure what to expect.  Your counsellor will put you at ease.

How long does a counselling session last?
1st session lasts between 60-90minutes
Follow up sessions 50-60minutes

Can I claim from Medical Aid?
You must assess if you can claim from your medical aid otherwise you must settle the bill via EFT or cash on day of appointment.

What are our fees?
Couselling is R650 per session with a clinically registered and highly experienced counsellor.

Do I need a doctor’s referral?
No, No referral is required.

Do I have to pay for counselling session?
All the counsellors and psychotherapists listed on Counselling Directory are private therapists and will usually charge for sessions. You can find out how much each charges by having a look at the ‘Fees’ section on their individual profile page.

How many sessions will we/ I need?
This not usually mapped out in advance, but is established on an individual basis.  We often agree to meet for 4 sessions to get to know some of your history and context and then review to see if it is a good ‘fit’ for you.

Is it true that only ‘crazy’ people or people with a mental illness or something seriously wrong go to counsellors?
This is a myth.  We can all benefit from talking with a trained professional who can help us make sense of our struggles.

Why am I asked to sign a ‘contract’?
This is an agreement between you and your counsellor that spells out the parameters of the relationship you will be entering into.  We do this to ensure the very best conditions for your healing and growth are explained, understood and actioned. This will ensure your confidentially.
